[[Note: This RP was not created by me, all credit for this RP goes to Amberjack on RPG,]]

Overview
Three weeks after first infection.

Alone in the middle of Fairfield Pennsylvania, your characters hide away from the zombies that roam the urban warzone. After a virus, speculated to be related to rabies, breaks out among the population in overwhelming numbers, society was quick to fall apart. Now your characters wait in a sheltered area where the infected pose no threat, especially if they don't notice you. Supplies are growing scarce however, and you hope that rescue will soon come for you before food is gone. While a few airborne vehicles passed over the city earlier, you haven't been lucky enough for a rescue so far. Time is running out and if something doesn't come for you soon, there will be no more options that to try and run through the restless hordes.

The Living

When the virus took over and thousands started losing their rapidly, you managed to avoid death. You carried on your life as usual before the outbreak, and had no idea that such a thing would be possible, especially so quickly. Other people besides you made it away from danger, but any contact with the attacking infected resulted in their own infection. You probably had a similar encounter and judging by the lack of infection, it can be assumed that you’re immune. Even so, the countless numbers of infected that inhabit Fairfield are more than capable of killing you, especially given how under-armed you are. You know it would be suicide to try and make your way out of the city, so you at least try to stay out of danger for as long as possible.

The Infected
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090607043824/left4dead/images/9/91/Hordes1280-x-1024.jpg

Whoever is unfortunate enough to fall prey to this deadly virus loses all higher brain functions, any sense of self-preservation, and seems as though they are no longer even human beings. Despite being commonly regarded otherwise, these zombies are nothing more than human beings, but no longer behave as such. Contrary to popular myths, the zombies are capable of running at their targets in full sprint, can be killed without an attack to the brain, and seem to have no interest in eating what they attack. The only thought that lingers in the minds of the virus victims seems to revolve around killing who or whatever the virus has not reached, and will stop at nothing to do so. The infected will run without tiring, attempt to scale any height and put themselves in certain danger to reach you. The infection, while it hasn’t affected the “regular” zombies as much as others (see special infected), seems to have granted its victims enhanced agility, making it possible for them to jump and climb over tall objects. The infection also seems to have changed the skin and bone strength of the zombies, as simple attacks can easily remove body parts and tear open flesh without trying.

Special Infected

The infection simple took over the minds of some people, but others were heavily mutated by it. The mutations revolved around special abilities given to the infected, making them much more dangerous than regulars. Once one of the special infected has begun an attack it’s usually impossible to stop it, which is why those who try to make it through the infected areas alone have grim survivability. Survivors are usually recommended to be alert to the presence of these special infected, and rely on others to avoid being killed by them. Special infected are also more driven to kill survivors they spot, taking no notice to loud noises or lights that would distract common infected for example.

Boomer
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090712035605/left4dead/images/b/b5/Boomeridle_1.png

The virus caused the Boomer to become extremely bloated, making it very easy to recognize amongst regular infected. It is known for having torso that explodes with blood and bile, enough force behind it to knock back whatever is near, if it is fatally attacked, thus giving the Boomer its name. The bile is the Boomer’s primary means of attack, though exploding upon death isn’t its only way of utilizing it. Whenever it comes within range, the Boomer’s first reaction is to vomit bile onto the survivors, immediately catching the attention of nearby zombies that will swarm the target, even if other survivors are nearby. Luckily, the Boomer’s easy recognition, poor durability and loud, grotesque gurgling/belching noises don’t make it difficult to spot.

Smoker
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090712035648/left4dead/images/0/04/Smokeridle.png

The Smoker appears somewhat-similar a normal infected, except it is slightly more durable and taller. Three very distinct characteristics can be seen if a survivor looks closely enough: the long tongue sticking out of its mouth, green spores that float through the air around it, and a tumor-like growths commonly on its face and arms. The Smoker’s attack is its tongue, which can quickly wrap around a survivor than yank him towards the Smoker, rendering said survivor immobile. Once the survivor is pulled close enough, the survivor attacks with its hands, clawing or punching until the survivor is taken down. Occasionally, the survivor will not be entirely immobile at the moment he’s wrapped, giving him a quick second to kill the Smoker that ensnares him, though it demands perfect reflex. When killed, the smoker’s body will release a thick cloud of smoke that both obscures the survivors view and smells quite putrid.

Hunter
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090712035605/left4dead/images/8/81/Hunter_1.png

Out of all the special infected, the Hunter is the one whose appearance was altered the least. Internal mutations caused by the virus are very significant however. Agility, strength and reflex were all improved by the infection, allowing the Hunter to climb things that are inaccessible even to the common infected. In addition, it can jump across a remarkable distance at an equally remarkable speed, something that proves to be useful for both attacking and evading. The hunter can be distinguished from a crowd of regular infected by the way it always crawls on all-fours before attempting to attack survivors. The Hunter is more durable that the common infected, and will quickly attempt to leap out of range if it isn’t immediately killed. When the Hunter leaps towards a survivor successfully, it will use claws to start doing as much damage as possible while it pins the survivor down, stopping only when it is shoved away or killed by another survivor. Hunters usually prey on separated survivors and have unforgiving attacks, so speed is essential to save the pinned survivor from too much harm.

Witch
http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100224012628/left4dead/images/6/6b/Witch_2.PNG

The Witch is a female special infected that will always sit (or wander around, assuming there’s daylight) in a single spot and cry loudly. Many survivors attempt to save the which, thinking they have come across a frightened survivor of the virus, but it often proves to be a fatal mistake. While the Witch will usually do nothing but cry in its spot, it can become easily agitated, prompting it to attack survivors. The Witch is highly deadly and far more durable than its appearance suggests, another example of fatal assumptions by inexperienced survivors. Touching, attacking or shining a flashlight at a Witch will startle it, and if you get close enough it will sometimes abruptly cease crying to stand up and growl at you. If you stare at the witch too long or don’t leave soon enough while she is in this state, she will be startled. In dark areas, the Witch's eyes glow red, being a single useful trait for identifying a Witch without using a flashlight. The Witch is powerful enough to knock a survivor to the ground in a single swing of its sharp claws, so clever survivors will usually attack her only when no other options are left. When the Witch is already attacking, it will sprint after the person that startled her, shoving everyone or everything in her way to the side. An agitated Witch seems to care only about the survivor that disturbed her, either going back to crying when the survivor is dead, or fleeing from the other survivors that try to attack the Witch once her target is dead.

Tank
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100104070151/left4dead/images/9/93/Tankidle.png

The Tank is the most intimidating and infamous special infected among virus survivors. It’s massive muscles give it unrealistic durability and the strength to punch cars through streets. The Tank is the most devastating threat to any group of survivors, being more than capable of taking down multiple before being killed itself. A swing of its massive arm will send a survivor flying through the air, and it can also pick up small objects to hurl at its targets like balls of paper. The Tank, despite how fearful it is, is commonly regarded as one of the “dumbest” of the infected, or it’s in a seemingly-constant state of rage. The tank will attempt to destroy whatever stands between it and targeted survivors, even if it means crashing through walls or other infected. The Tank causes massive damage to uncoordinated or unexperienced survivors, and will brutally punish those who wander from the group they're in.

Setting
http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20090203223008/left4dead/images/5/57/Newburg.jpg

Player characters will be given a position to start in when the introduction of the RP begins, all in some kind of shelter where the infected surround them but cannot attack them.

The densely-populated city of Fairfield proved to be very suitable location for the virus to spread. Any remaining citizens, save for the player characters, are all infected and the area has been crippled. Before the outbreak, the city could always offer the sounds of passing cars and the occasional midnight drunk, but now the only thing that can be heard is the moan and cry of a zombie. There is no sunlight in Fairfield, and the entire urban area is dark and dreary. A few street, car and building lights were left on during the panic sparked after the outbreak, but the city is mostly so dark that vision is obscured, especially inside buildings. The streets and buildings are in only two conditions: abandoned or overrun.

Rules
1. If all of these rules were read, put the key phrase, “of their own accord” somewhere in your signup.

2. No godmodding, rather obvious.

3. Only with the owner’s permission may you control characters other than your own.

4. This RP has pretty much no limit on graphic content

5. If it wasn’t posted in the RP, it didn’t happen. This rule doesn’t apply to the character’s past however, but only to anything that will happen during the RP.

6. If you want to apply some kind of side plot to the RP, you must explain it to me and ask permission first.

7. Aside from the fact that zombies are fucking everywhere, this RP is meant to be reality-based, and your character cannot accomplish anything beyond human capability.

8. Landscape, appearance of NPCs, weapons, weapon accessories and ammo are all controlled by me. The only time you may control an NPC is when they are being killed by you. Special infected, however, are much more important than the average infected, and attacks against them may only typed as an attempt in your post, then the result will be revealed when I post a response. In regards to weapons and ammunition, your character may search for them at any time, but the success will be determined by the following post by myself. Any miscellaneous items (leftover food, trash, junk etc.) can be placed at any time however.

9. Whenever a weapon is used, be specific on how much ammunition is used. I want to try and keep track of every player’s ammunition reserve, and having help from said players would make it much easier. An alternative to this rule is to mention something along the lines of your character attacking until any threat is gone. If this is done, I will determine the amount of ammo used myself, and will try to do my best to be fair and accurate. Explaining characteristics of your attack (such as how conservative your character is with ammo and how much he switches to melee attacks instead) can be a factor in adding up the ammo usage.

10. Your character must move to end up in different areas as in the previous post. If your character goes somewhere different, there must be at least a sentence that explains how your character walks into a different room or down a street. This may seem obvious, but it has been a problem in the past.

11. If you’ve read this far, you now know that the key phrase must be italicized (Ctrl+I)

-Caliber
-Ammunition
List what your character uses to defend himself (the above only applies to guns). If your character has a gun, it must be of rather low power and very basic, especially something likely to be found in a civilian environment. Melee weapons on the other hand are pretty limitless. If you need help with any part of the small form above, tell me the basic idea of the gun you want and I’ll be glad to help you.
